Sports
Sports, why its important for me-
Sport to me has always been a main part of my life, in my house sport or sky sports news was always on. Whether it was football, rugby or formula 1. This in turn grew my love for sport.
Both my dad and my brother are big football fans with one supporting Chelsea and the other supporting West Ham, this meant I often knew the latest football news and watched the games. International football is another big thing in my house, each game was like a celebration we would have people round to sit and watch, often when I was younger it was just to see us lose however in the past couple years its been nicer to support England and see us go far.
For me formula one is my favourite sport, when I was younger I wasn't interested I didn't understand why you would want to watch 20 people drive round in a big circle for up to 70 laps. However this changed and I became formula 1 mad, I now understand the excitement of the battles between the drivers and the teams. And hearing "it's light out and away we go" gets my heart beating faster every race week. With the addition of drive to survive on Netflix you were able to get to know the drivers more personally and I quickly became a Daniel Ricciardo fan, he showed a side that not all drivers did with a quick wit and a friendly personality.
Formula 1 is important in my family, my grandad was the manager of the second biggest Renault dealership in the country meaning him and my Gran were often able to go to prestige races like Monaco. My dad has also been a keen f1 fan, when he was younger he went to many races and saw his childhood heroes win. he slowly fell out of love with formula 1 but it was reignited when I started to show an interest towards it. I even managed to partake in a work experience placement last year. I was there for just under a week and got to see the behind the scenes of how a formula 1 team is managed. The team I worked with was Alpine who used to be known as Renault this almost felt like fate seeing as my grandad had worked for Renault and I'm sure he would have been really proud if he could have seen me there.
The Olympics has been another important thing in my family. The 2012 London summer olympics coincided with my dads 50th birthday, we had gone away camping with all our friends and where we were staying meant we were able to see the rowing from our campsite. The olympic torch had gone through our town and we had gone out to see it, almost making it seem that bit more special. During super Sunday we were in France on holiday, I remember running back from the toilets doing the Mo-bot because mo Farah had just won gold. Since then the olympics have seen more special, it's a time where people come together to support their nation and our most superior athletes.
Everyones feeling towards sport is very personal, to me it's always been about my family and friends coming together to support our heroes.
Au revoir
Zoe
