Motivation... is key

 Motivation-

Motivation is key, both in exercise and sport and in everyday, normal life.
I have found that my motivation has been at different levels towards exercise over the past couple years. During lockdown 1 I found that all the extra free time meant that I found a love for fitness, me and my mum often did the Joe Wicks PE lessons and I was also running a cycling everyday. However as we carried on with life after lockdown 1 this dropped, not only did I not have as much time due to going back to school and being able to do normal things again but I just wasn't feeling it like I had before. Until the next summer did I eventually start enjoying exercise again. I found it benefited my mental health, due to the release of endorphins like serotonin it also just allowed me to have time to myself. My motivation carried on to have its ups and downs until November last year. This was due to me breaking both my elbow and part of my arm in a practical lesson in PE (what can I say basketball is not for me) because of this is wasn't able to do any sport for a couple months. This was extremely difficult due to doing a sport and exercise course at college and just having to sit on the sidelines and watch.
As I was able to start doing exercise again I just felt like I didn't want to. I was no longer feeling any sort of motivation to do any sort of fitness, I had become a-motivated.
My love for sport had stopped and I had no interest in taking part, I was also slightly scared I felt like any sport I did I was going to get injured and break my elbow again.

To combat this I had to take it slow, I couldn't force myself to do something I didn't want to. Over time my mindset changed I didn't put any pressure on myself to do something that was worrying me and I slowly became more interested in sport again. No were in March and I am the most motivated to do sport than I have been in a long time.

Motivation changes all the time, and can be affected by lots of different things. If you suddenly feel that you don't have the passion to exercise then that fine, things will come and go this includes your motivation.
And just remember these things happen to everyone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOzk0OLz0Jc this is a video of Tyson fury talking about how his lack of motivation really affected him. It is normal and it will change.

Au revoir
Zoe
